**[Dalila Kayros](https://dalilakayros.bandcamp.com/album/khthonie)** - Hypnotic powerfull voices featuring energetic distored rhythms. Kayros' haunting melodies and ritualistic vocals lead to a visceral experience, weaving together raw, earthly tones with ethereal and otherwordly sounds. Their music transcends the constraints of genres constantly pushing the bounderies into diverse music terrains.

**[Mirusi Mergina](https://mirusimergina.bandcamp.com/)** -  Enter the enigmatic realms of Mirusi Mergina (= Lithuanian for dead girl), where unpredictability, darkness, and eclecticism converge to a haunting musical journey .Through raw synth and voice-based soundscapes, accompanied by haunting drones, captivating noise, and entrancing mantric rhythms, Mirusi Mergina guides her listeners into an altered state of consciousness. Brace yourself for an intense experience as her cosmic horror unveils the enigmatic depths of the inner self. 

**[Tacet Tacet Tacet](https://tacetacetacet.bandcamp.com/album/fickle)** - Solo project of Fra Zedde. The project takes its name from John Cage's composition, 4.33, as a reference to the exploration of concrete sounds within his musical landscape. The style spans across genres, with elements of glitch, neo-folk, IDM, noise, drone, and ambient. For live performances, the sound is complemented with dynamic, real-time visuals.

**[Dj Komodovaraan](https://soundcloud.com/komodovaraan)** - named after the heaviest of lizards, evokes an eclectic sound reminiscent of the old-school club culture. She embraces different styles of music, blending songs with fast rhythms and heavy bass lines alongside hedonistic synthesizers and distorted guitars. Music as catharsis, mixing sounds that express urges of rage, escapism, and nihilistic tendencies.
Growing up in an unconventional environment, she could find solace in a sonic world of wonders. Digging through her family's record collection, from rock-‘n-roll animals like Lou Reed to soulful dreamers like Sade, a new obsession has started. Followed by a love for electronic music instigated by classic video games, she found a sense of freedom through
fast-paced rhythms and uplifting melodies. A sense she aspires to share on the dance floor.

The Rotterdam Illustration Festival is an initiative of Carmen José, Michael van Kekem, and Rachel Sender. They’re illustrators and educators. This festival is a response to the feedback they’ve heard loud and clear: illustrators want to feel more connected and less alone in the freelance world. We believe that by coming together, whether it's to learn, share, or discuss, we can all grow together. That’s why the festival is all about gatebreaking; tearing down walls and opening doors, instead of gatekeeping.

This is your space to meet like-minded creatives, swap stories, and find inspiration.

Illustration Festival

Afleiding is a series of events and releases curated by Stichting Holland.

For fans of: Frank Zappa, Daniel Johnston, Ian Hawgood, Ulla Straus, Tim Hecker, Beach Boys.

Tonight graphic designers Auke Triesschijn and Niels Vrijdag will launch their first joint riso magazine at Roodkapje. Their art will be shown, and musicians they worked with as art work designers will perform.

Friso van Wijck’s Candy Container is the jazz ensemble of composer/drummer Friso van Wijck.
Friso composed a.o. For Asko/Schoenberg Ensemble, Nieuw Ensemble, Doelen Ensemble, Mondriaan String Quartet, Doelen String Quartet and the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra. Tonight Candy Container will release their debut album.

Art Bit is the artist project of Ard Janssen. A composer, sound designer and field recordist who creates audio sculptures which are subtle, layered and characterized with great detail. His musical forms come about through free improvisation and systematic composition with a focus on minimalism.

Harry Merry is Harry Merry. The guy with the keyboard who created his own kind of pop music. He will turn a huge smile on your face, or annoy you to death. Whatever happens, you won’t forget him. Tonight he will release his new ep, which will be the first in a series he’s working on.

Brorlab  
In 2023 BRORLAB popped up with their second release "Working Out In Heaven", a totally out of control 12” of modern fuckwave.  
  
The A side is seven new songs of their trademark dadaist electronic punk, full of fuzz guitars and sharp nasty beats, with a female vocalist that fits perfectly the Honey Bane – Chitose vocal range and smart attitude.  
  
The B side brings bang back to life the 8 tracks from their criminally obscure debut EP, which will make any lover of ear-damaging noise smile with pleasure.  
  
All in all an aberrant slice of psychedelic gabber infused punk for the end of time.  
  
Lifeless Past  
Lifeless Past from The Netherlands plays darkwave and postpunk music which is heavily inspired by the goth movement from the late 80's.  
Lifeless Past consist of Satori (guitars, drumbeats and vocals) together with Brandon om percussions. Both members are currently living in the Netherlands but they are born and raised on the island of Curaçao. Their cultural background can also be heard in their compositions and in some of their songs which are sung in Spanish.  
Their music is characterized by its cold and groovy drums, cascading melodic guitars and wintery vocals.  
  
Designer Violence  
Wild synthesizers, pumping beats and emotional vocals delivered by women screaming in your face. Formed out of a shared passion for everything gritty, danceable and underground, queer art punk band Designer Violence manages to transform every venue they play into a sweaty underground nightclub, where the sun never rises and the subs slightly too loud.  
  
VJ Elena Chadaeva  
Elena is a Rotterdam-based transdisciplinary artist and designer. Her interest and inspiration lie in the intersection of math and spirit, and she explores that threshold by translating sensory input into generated visuals. In her artistic practice more broadly, she works with seemingly unconnectable themes and methods and weaves them into a poetic whole that questions the nature of perception.

Brorlab, Lifeless Past, Designer Violence [Pretty//Ugly]

De experimentele muziek van mui zyu voelt als een droom vol percussie en buitenaardse texturen. Haar verfijnde pianomelodieën worden bijgestaan door vervormde klanken die het onderliggende verhaal op een delicate wijze omhullen. Door slim gebruik van gelaagde synthesizers en een slaaplied-achtige melodie weet mui een geruststellende sfeer te scheppen waarin ze de luisteraar naar een alternatieve wereld gidst, geweven uit haar persoonlijke fantasieën en grenzeloze verbeelding.

‘On her debut solo album, Rotten Bun for an Eggless Century, mui zyu explores her heritage and grapples with otherness in knotty electro-pop shot through with field recordings and traditional Chinese instruments’, schreef het gerenommeerde Pitchfork, en ze slaan de spijker op z’n kop. mui’s tweede album is niet ver weg, en we hebben al een voorproefje gekregen met haar nieuwste single Everything To Die For, een vibey, laid-back nummer dat meer neigt naar een combinatie van indierock en slowcore. We zijn enthousiast, en dat zou jij ook moeten zijn, want als één ding zeker is, is het dat zyu ons opnieuw zal verrassen.

Dit concert wordt georganiseerd door Rotown en Roodkapje, heeft voornamelijk staanplaatsen en een beperkt aantal zitplaatsen op de blokken achterin de zaal.

In 2024, Roodkapje begins building (their) anarchief (or anarchive in English), which is open for visitors from May onwards. Roodkapje’s anarchief consists of anarchival pieces that grow from the Happenings organized by the residents of the Hamburger Community. To start anarchiving is to break free from the archive as we know it, to refuse traditional forms of archiving and a proposition to explore the ways in which the full sensorial experience of lived life can be included. We want to pay attention to the silences left in conventional archiving practices and make space for reciprocity in collective memory and meaning making. Our anarchive will be subjective, polyvocal and unevenly shaped.

Roodkapje’s Anarchief aims to collect moments, processes and affective forces in the Happenings to craft stories about what has passed in ways that may inspire possible action in the future. Artists are invited to transform the spirit of the Happenings into anarchival pieces; artworks that suggest new beginnings, relations and ways of being. You can check out the anarchival traces from PASTE, the first Happening this year, organized by Hogus Bogus Publishing and the Hamburger Community residents Tisa World, M.C. Julie Yu, Julia Wilhelm, Repelsteeltje and Irene Cassarini. From 10 October onwards, you can listen to and see the first anarchival piece by artist Alice Strete, inspired by the second Happening A.S.M.R. [Advanced Social Manner Refusual] that took place in the end of June.
To develop this anarchive’s visual language and house style, we are working with artist and designer Iris Velzen.

For this evening, Roodkapje Rotterdam invited Rotterdam label Yarrow Ballet to curate an evening full of live electronics.  
  
Yarrow Ballet is a young Rotterdam-based record label founded by Ofra. Last year, they released "Soleil Tartare" by Dim Garden, a five-track EP that embodies both the depths of Hades’ underworld and Helios’ realm. Following this release, Yarrow Ballet released a beautiful compilation this year, introducing “Yarrow Ballet’s V.A.01” featuring ten tracks.

Dissemblance  
After her first LP on Mannequin Records in 2019, Dissemblance released her second album “Centauresse” on the New York label L.I.E.S. Records a year ago, followed by a series of concerts where cold wave and minimal synth meet intimate pop sound.  
  
The Parisian artist adds a new arsenal of instruments to her repertoire, bringing together a variety of styles and sounds marking them with her own exceptional style. She invites us to explore the full range of her musical dynamics, leading the listener into her universe where the border between dreams and reality blurs into one, with no tangible beginning or end.  
  
She will perform live along with Vicnet on synths.

Archetype  
Leonard Prochazka – active on Knekelhuis through his aliases Archetype and Geier Aus Stahl – is a conceptual artist, consistently centering his output around a core concept.  
The Viennese Rotterdammer was inspired for the latter alias‘s „Strapazen und Genesung“ album, released in 2022, by the German student protests of 1968. Sonically, he translated his research  
on political texts and art made around that time, either as a result of or in reaction to these movements, while focusing on a stripped-down DIY cassette culture sound.  
  
His new project, Archetype, is an abstract scream for something quite fragile, exploring personal experiences of a polarizing society and disruptive isolation. Contrastingly, it embraces digitized,  
precise sound design with bold hooks and dramatic vocals, evoking industrial trip-hop and post-punk-leaning electronics. Archetype’s debut album „The Ick“ releases in 2024 on Knekelhuis.  
When performing live, Leonard has a control-freak meets punk attitude, connecting with his audience in a primal way.

Loma Doom  
Loma Doom, a true radio veteran and beacon of twisted and mesmerizing sounds. Whether you experience her musical activities or those relating to her contemporary arts practice, curiosity is a  
key aspect gracing Femke Dekker (real name). As Loma Doom, her signature style revolves around electronic experimentalism, both for mind and movement, seeking the outliers, one that avoids linearity, towards a space where intuition and understanding meet. Actively incorporating styles predating the computer era, she sources from her fondness for freak folk, psychedelic and hardcore punk. This openness veered Femke into a category of respected deejays in the leftfield underground, having played influential spots such as Salon Des Amateurs, Meakusma and Dekmantel, amongst others. Using radio and archives as her main media, her current focus is on various notions of listening and how listening is actually a call to action.  
  
She holds radio residencies at Stranded FM (show: Daydream Nation), Radio Tempo Não Pára (Helter Skelter) and Echobox (Left of the Dial) and will start a new residency at Mutant Radio in  
Tbilisi, Georgia later this year. Parallel to spending her time behind decks, Femke has a multi-faceted practice as contemporary arts educator, teaching as a (guest) tutor at Sandberg Instituut in Amsterdam, Design Academy Eindhoven and the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague and is an artistic research fellow for the Amsterdam based Visual Methodologies Collective.

Samira  
Rotterdam-based Samira found her niche in the city's electronic music scene as a resident DJ at Operator. Specializing in melancholic electro and wave, her sets at the club became known for their  
distinct, darker palette. While her music reflects the city's urban landscapes and resonates with its gritty spirit, she also contributed to the local music culture by supporting local music platforms and clubs.

In 2019 zette Total Chaos zijn 30-jarig jubileum luister bij met een optreden tijdens Tales From The Punx. Dit jaar kunnen we hun zevende lustrum vieren aan de andere kant van de Maas. De mazen van de wet worden opgezocht door deze diehards, want een van hun credo’s is het aloude ‘Fuck The System’. Dat The Exploited een gelijknamige pogokraker heeft is geen toeval, aangezien de Britse betonpunkpioniers een van Total Chaos’ grote bronnen zijn, terwijl ze daar hun eigen Californische kick aan geven. En zoals frontman Rob Chaos ooit zei: “Zolang de wereld niet verandert zal er altijd behoefte zijn aan punkbands.”

Acidez brak de tent af bij de tweede Tales From The Punx en deed dat een jaar later in Baroeg nóg rigoureuzer met Disturbance. We riepen al eerder dat ze de Trumps muur zouden wegblazen met een muur van geluid. Roodkapje kan wel tegen een opstootje, dus het dak gaat er alleen figuurlijk gesproken af. Niettemin blijft Acidez’ Mexicaanse crossoverpunk een machtig wapen.

In de jaren 70 was D.O.A. een van de grondleggers van hardcore punk. Het eveneens Canadese Phane trad vier decennia later in hun voetsporen, al trapt dit viertal van meet af aan het gas nog een stuk harder in. Neem het venijn van de vroege D.O.A. met de impact van Discharge en je weet zo’n beetje wat je voor je kiezen gaat krijgen.
